Based on the fundamental class format developed by barre originator Lotte Berk, this full body workout combines the best of classical ballet technique, Pilates and yoga. Using your own bodyweight as resistance, participants isolate and work the muscles of their upper body, thighs and abdominals to the point of fatigue then stretch them to achieve a long, lean physique. The featured seat work is "All-Fours". Just the way it sounds! Perched on hands and knees, participants isolate the gluteals and hamstrings. Through a series of small and isolated movements, these targeted muscle groups are worked to the point of fatigue. Core muscles are engaged throughout the exercise ensuring a full-body workout. Think Jane Fonda on steroids! You will love the results!
What you will need:
A ballet barre, sturdy chair or countertop
A set of light hand weights (we prefer 1, 2, or 3 lbs)
A rolled-up towel, pillow, or some support for your low back.
A playground ball.
